Past Years

4 Seasons Museum

Group Members: Nisha Nibu, Anjali george, James Finnegan, and Hannah Arcenal

The four seasons are often overlooked by the everyday individual, especially New Yorkers who
are constantly consumed by the hustle and bustle of city living. However, as New Yorkers we do
not realize just how lucky we are to have a chance to experience every season individually,
compared to other regions with climates that are extreme or unchanging. Nature runs the same
course every year and many get lost in the cycle, not taking time to appreciate the beauty around
them. When a person takes time to reflect on nature and its many gifts, they find themselves
shocked to see that something so ordinary, like the seasons, are quite fascinating. For years,
artists all over the world have attempted to capture this amazing pattern that nature displays, and
many have been quite successful in transforming this natural process into art. This virtual exhibit
attempts to bring works from well-known artists like Edward Hopper, Vincent Van Gogh, Claude
Monet, and others to capture the magical essence of winter, spring, summer, and fall. The
different seasons can be split into several themes. Winter can be seen as a cold and frigid time,
but upon further examination there is much beauty within. Spring is a time of growth and rebirth,
reflecting the end of a rough season and the beginning of a new era. Summer brings a
continuation of the joy and warmth of spring, but also an imminent sense that the colder seasons
are fast approaching. Fall is a period of transition and rest, but it also marks the begging of the
end as winter is around the corner. As you walk through this exhibit, take a moment to allow
yourself to be emersed in the different themes. We begin with winter, the first season of the year,
then comes spring, followed by summer, and finally fall.

How did completing your project help you explore the role of arts in the lives of New Yorkers and their communities?

Completing this projects allowed our group to explore the artworks of artists from New York and our areas of the world. Art draws attention to topics that get overlook like our project theme of 4 seasons.
