A tribute to South Asian Actresses

Group Members: Jigna Oza

This project is inspired by the art piece “Curtain Call” which speaks on the theme of the struggles Black women face when participating in Ballet, a predominantly white industry. The artist created this from her experience of being a ballet performer and inspired me to create a collage highlighting important south Asian actresses who have made an impact in the acting industry, as acting is something I enjoy.

How did completing your project help you explore the role of arts in the lives of New Yorkers and their communities?

Completing this project has made me notice all the little ways art helps build the New York City culture.
