Brookdale Campus experiences noise from sources such as local hospitals, sports bars, garbage collectors, speeding cars, and neighboring students. However, survey data indicates that most students do not report significant negative effects on their sleep or mental well-being. This suggests that, despite research linking noise to poor concentration and insomnia, Brookdale students appear to be largely unaffected by these issues. This implies New Yorkers and college students adapt to various forms of noise pollution, and in the future we would be interested in researching how that occurs.
