Krystian Gawecki’s Mask

Group Members: Krystian Gawecki

The top half of the mask shows all the video game consoles I’ve owned throughout my life, because they were my biggest hobby. I started with the Wii and the DS, where I always played games like “Mario Kart” or “Sonic Colors”. Then, my next console was the Xbox, where I started playing multiplayer games with my friends. Finally, now I mostly use my computer to play with my friends, and I also play some exclusive games on my Nintendo switch. In the bottom half is my second biggest hobby, which is music. My first instrument was the piano, and I still play it to this day. My second instrument was the saxophone, which I started playing in 4th grade for the school band and stopped at the end of middle school. Finally, I started learning the guitar this year.

How did completing your project help you explore the role of arts in the lives of New Yorkers and their communities?

I was able to express myself by drawing on this mask, which is what a lot of artists do with their work to share to others
