The Mask that Represents Me

Group Members: Danil Gurshumov

My mask has 8 different symbols on it. The first symbol is sleep. This is because I enjoy sleeping. The second symbol is school. I like going to school because I learn new things and I can talk with friends. The third symbol is a repeating sign. This is because my life’s schedule is repeating, meaning I basically do the same thing every day. The fourth symbol is a phone and computer. This is because I spend a good chunk of my day on different electronics. The fifth symbol is a tank. This is simply because my nickname at school is tank, and I like it. The sixth symbol is four people together. This is me and my friends. I enjoy spending time with my friends, whether online or in person. The seventh symbol is food, and this is simply because I like food. The eighth symbol is just math symbols. This is because I like math.

How did completing your project help you explore the role of arts in the lives of New Yorkers and their communities?

This project helped me explore myself and key symbols that define me. This project taught me that art can be used to express oneself and, even if it may not look like it, the art may have a deeper meaning behind it.
