For our project, the theme is the human body. We are all made up of the same organs, but we have our own unique identities. Each organ is vital to our survival, just as every feature of our identity is essential to shape our character and persona. The poster’s central focus features a heart, symbolizing the human body’s core, placed behind a poem that explores “What does it mean to be whole?” Our distinct identities are showcased in each of the four corners of the posters. This emphasizes the importance of introspection and encourages viewers to deepen their understanding of their own identity.
All of the group members’ identities are symbolized by specific body parts: the eye, ear, skin, and brain. The ear shows Kat’s love for music and Nicole’s love for hands-on activities and conceptual processes is represented by the brain. The eye reveals Rosabelle’s passion for optometry, while the skin depicts Eliana’s interest in research in the field of dermatology. All of the organs function differently and are made up of a variety of underlying aspects, such as language, culture, and passions. This is correlated to how different body parts are made up of cells and proteins, helping them function properly. Together, these parts come together to create a whole. Similarly, the various identities of people in the Macaulay community unite to form a diverse population with similarities and differences.
