To What Extent do Temperature & Precipitation Influence NYC’s Electricity Consumption?

A graph displaying electricity consumption in KWH plotted versus Average Monthly Temperature, from 2012-2017, in NYC.

Group Members: Lawrence Goldfeld, Briana Grijalva, Jason Liao, Richard Zborovski

In this project, we studied whether there were any correlations between temperature/precipitation and electricity usage in NYCHA properties in Manhattan. We found that there is no significant link between precipitation and electricity usage, but we found that for temperatures above 60 F, a positive linear relationship models electricity consumption vs temperature.
