I researched different controversies regarding Banksy and his art, specifically focusing on Hammer Boy due to the irony of its location in the Upper West Side, a place which has relatively less graffiti and is largely dominated by white, affluent residents, challenging Banksy’s themes of social justice. For my creative project, I conducted short interviews with 5 students and asked them their impressions of Hammer Boy without giving them any context.
