Measuring Bird Biodiversity Trends in 3 NYC Parks from 2017-2024

A poster with pictures of three bird species.

Group Members: Isidro Borges, Katrina Tablang, Rifat Ahmed, Aidan Ferrera

In recent years, global bird populations have been on a steady decline due to a number of factors, ranging from deforestation to climate change. We discovered that three bird species all appeared to be on a downward trend in terms of the number of observations in Central Park, but have been generally stable in Prospect Park and Van Cortlandt Park. Further research is necessary to determine whether these trends reflect population declines across the city.
