A Day In The Public Park

This piece of work is a representation of a public park in New York city titled Tableu Vivant by A'lvaro Urbano.

Group Members: Thomas DiLollo

My project gives a classic New Yorker feel to someone who may not be from New York, as well as people who are used to the hustle and bustle. Throughout our course we visited numerous exhibits, seen tons of paintings, and walked along famous art spots. All gave me a new view on art. We have seen so many that our professor made us pick one that stood out the most and talk all about it, so that is exactly what I did. The piece below by A’lvaro Urbano is lively piece representing a public park while also giving a grander message. The pieces of the exhibit were rescued architecture so it half of what something else once was. It shows that once art always art. I want people to take away the imaginative aspect of this artwork. the way one can reenact a whole scene in their head just from looking at the art, now that is beauty.

How did completing your project help you explore the role of arts in the lives of New Yorkers and their communities?

Completing this project allowed me to take a second look on how much of the arts in New York City I really saw. Alone I may have never witnessed such beautiful works and been in such prestige events. The overwhelming number of different types of art representing different communities, different issues, and just the beauty of the city alone was wonderful, and this project just allowed me to realize how lucky I was to be doing all of this.
