How does Temperature Affect Initial Leaf Growth of Maple Trees in New York?

Group Members: Ellie Gillis, Joshua Park, Gabriela Manotoa, and AJ Junayed

This poster examines how warming temperatures affect New York maple trees’ leaf growth. The team studied three species, Norway Maple, Red Maple, and Sugar Maple trees, using information from the National Phenology Network. The findings indicated a stronger tendency for Norway maples but a poor link for sugar and red maples, indicating that growth may depend more on temperature fluctuations. The study concludes that although temperature affects leaf growth, the relationship is not significant enough to be conclusive.
