My Mask

Group Members: Michael Gardella

In this mask, I incorporated my values and interests. Before college, I was very involved in the sport of lacrosse and football. I played on my high school lacrosse team and played football for an outside league. I also included the American flag, bald eagle, and shield to show my patriotism. I am a strong supporter of my country, and displayed this in my mask.

How did completing your project help you explore the role of arts in the lives of New Yorkers and their communities?

By working on and completing my mask, I was able to embrace my identity and show it proudly to the rest of the world. In past decades, people were unable to show their true self, and so they turned to art to have their voices heard.
