Identity Mask

Group Members: Gabriella Cota, Suzanna Grigoryan, Rachel Malamud, Anna Kopachevsky, and Elisa Ujkashi

The front right side of my mask captures my love for nature—gardening, collecting house plants, and exploring the outdoors. On the left, I’ve written out the labels that define how others see me. The back bursts with colorful, chaotic lines, a vivid reflection of my curious and wandering mind.

How did completing your project help you explore the role of arts in the lives of New Yorkers and their communities?

Completing the project helped me use art to touch base with my identity, especially how I perceive myself compared to how other people perceive me. This relates to the lives of New Yorkers, as they often used art to help with self discovery.
