In this project, we tried to find how much of a correlation, if any, exists between the variety of bird species in a New York City Council District and the number of spotted lanternflies in said district. Based on our data from iNaturalist, we found out that there was a weak correlation between the two variables with an R value of 0.46127. From this, we may think that there may be other factors involved such as urbanization, habitat characteristics, or climate, that may play more significant roles in spotted lanternfly population.
